St Matthew's Outreach Grants

by Staff

St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Rupert has just completed the 3rd year of their outreach program which awards grants of up to $10,000.00 for worthy projects.

The selection committee looks for projects that enhance and establish religious and outreach activities. This includes local community projects as well as projects on a national or international level. Programs that provide educational/vocational enrichment, reach out to disadvantaged persons, and/or improve the quality of life for people in need are given special consideration. It is not uncommon for the committee to receive grant requests totaling well over? 100,000.

This year, grants were given to the local Meals-On-Wheels program, the Kenyan Children's Fund, Diabetes Education for Hispanics, a women's shelter, the Helping Hands Christian Outreach, and Beginning Experience (a program to help grieving, "single-again" men and women). In awarding the grants, the committee considers the urgency of need, the number of people who will be affected, and the overall value of the projects.
